Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued May 26 at 5:25PM EDT until May 26 at 6:00PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA At 523 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Indian Mills to Thessalia to Gunton Park to near Baywood, moving east at 55 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Law enforcement. Numerous trees have been blown down with this storm. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include... Pulaski... Wytheville... Galax... Bland... Princeton... Pearisburg... and Hillsville. Prepare immediately for LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS. For your safety, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows. This is a DANGEROUS SITUATION. These storms are producing widespread wind damage across the warned area. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.
