severe thunderstorm warning in effect At 6:20 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 10 kilometres north of Fathom Five National Marine Park to Port Albert to Mount Brydges to 55 kilometres southeast of Rondeau Provincial Park, moving northeast at 65 km/h. Hazards: Up to 90 km/h wind gusts possible. Heavy rain with local amounts up to 50 mm possible. Locations impacted include: London, Kincardine, St. Thomas, Stratford, Woodstock, Parkhill, Strathroy, Exeter, Lucan, Port Elgin, Wingham, Mitchell, Walkerton, St. Marys, Aylmer, Listowel, Ingersoll, Tavistock, Tillsonburg and Bluewater. ### Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Avoid driving through water on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
